Dunk Your Boss
The annual fundraiser organised by the Irish property industry returns
Dragons at The Docks is back for 2019 with a mission to raise greater funds to help alleviate homelessness in Dublin, whilst offering the perfect opportunity to meet like-minded people in the property sector.
This year's charity boat regatta welcomes three new sponsors to its fantastic line-up: Hines, Dalata Hotel Group and Glenveagh Properties join Hibernia REIT, Cairn Homes, Green Reit, Ires Reit, Hammerson and Kennedy Wilson.
Kevin Nowlan, CEO of cornerstone sponsor Hibernia REIT, said of last year's event: “We were absolutely thrilled with the support from our fellow industry colleagues, and were delighted to have raised these significant funds for Dublin Simon Community.”
This year, Dragons at the Docks will see over 860 competitors in 72 teams battle it out across 6 sectors for the top prize. Companies are asked to enter a team of 12 competitors, no experience is necessary and dragon boat racing is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Each team includes 10 paddlers, plus one reserve, and one drummer. Four female paddlers are required on each team. Sportswear with runners and a light jacket are ideal and a bouyancy aid will be provided. Team registration begins at 12.30pm and Prize Giving is at 19.30pm, so eat a hearty breakfast!
There will be entertainment throughout the day, with games and activities across the dock and if you want to see your suited and booted boss take a dip, then form an orderly queue at Dunk Your Boss. Brave bosses in their corporate finery will climb into the dunk tank and hope your throwing skills are off the mark! Two balls costs just €5 and all proceeds will go to a very worthy cause, Dublin Simon Community.
Sam McGuinness, CEO of Dublin Simon Community said, "The funds raised from the inaugural Dragons at the Docks will support the acquisition of two apartments as part of the Simon Capital Development Fund, helping more people move to a permanent safe place to call home; making a vital difference to those who have been devastated by the homeless crisis. Each individual will not only have a place to call home but will receive vital wraparound supports such as counselling, education and employability, independent living skills and health and wellbeing to ensure they never return to homelessness and are able to rebuild their lives with their community of support around them."
Following the Prize Giving, wins will be toasted at a BBQ at HQ Bar & Restaurant where you can enjoy a well-earned burger and salad, with a glass of wine or a glass of beer.
Dragons at the Docks takes place on Thursday 29th August 2019 at Grand Canal Dock #DATD19
